Travelling solo, yeah! Call me selfish but once in a while, it is good to embark on a solo travel. Yes, it is! There are people everywhere; you work with them, live with them, hang out with them, virtually every other day of the week. Why not take a break? Why travel with them all the time? It may look daunting; especially for first-timers but it is soul reviving. You will get to learn a lot. And do not tell me of boredom. What is boredom? That you are travelling solo doesn’t mean you won’t meet people at your destination or on your way even. There is no boredom; in fact, you get to make more friends than you would if you were with a company. Trust me; there are many perks to travelling alone. You should try it out sometimes.
Let’s get to it already!
1. You Can Do Whatever You Wish to Do
Yes! Total freedom! Can you remember the last time you had the freedom to see whatever movie you want to see? Visit whatever places you wish to visit? Do whatever you want to do and at whatever time you dim fit to do them? Yes, that is what I’m talking about. Complete freedom! Being selfish isn’t selfish after all. Unlike travelling with a company, where you get to debate every move - from movies to see, places to visit to what to eat and everything in between.
2. You Get to Learn More About Yourself
Taking a break from everyone will help you discover yourself. You are in total control of your decisions; you get to think better about life decisions. Also, you will get to do those things you have always wanted to do; there is no one there to be shy of or to stop you. You will get to learn just how far and wild you can go. It also helps you reflect on things better, no noise or interference from anyone around. You can take the time and stay in your room and think of important happenings in your life and how best to them. It is a soul-reviving experience! Give it a try!
1. You Get to Make More Friends
It baffles me when people associate boredom with solo travelling. Boredom? How? In fact, I make more friends while travelling alone than I would if I were with someone else. You will have the opportunity of making new friends and trying out new things. There is no boredom! In contrast, you become more sociable.
2. You Will Spend Less
True! Solo travelling is cost-effective. Travelling with a company means spending tons of dollars on extra food, extra plane ticket, extra movie tickets, and extra ‘everything’. You can’t get a drink for yourself or see a movie and leave your companion out that would be selfish. See, the selfish word comes into play when you are with someone but you can never be selfish when you are alone.
3. You Will Get to Build Confidence in Yourself
Believe it or not, solo travelling helps increase your self-esteem. It helps you become more self-reliance. It helps boost your confidence level. Now, you get to decide on everything and own the responsibilities. There is no one to take the blame or rely on. Therefore, you brace yourself up and face whatever comes your way. What better way to build confidence in yourself?
